Location: Colorado | So here's the rules:
The tournament will be held on one or two servers (depending on the number of players who show up). The servers will be passworded and set to allow only ranked players. Check the yellow box at the top of this page just before the tournament to be sure which server(s). I will be in charge of one of the servers, and if we need a second server I'll put Diesel in charge of that one (if that's ok with you, Diesel).
The tournament starts at 7:30pm MST, which is 9:30pm EST, so show up a few minutes early if you can. We'll play 2 rounds of 1 hour each with a short break in between. Stand-offs will not be allowed. If play stops, the admin will begin a 30-second countdown (I'll keep my stopwatch handy) and if at the end of 30 seconds play has not resumed, the game will be aborted. This is a free-for-all tournament--no teams allowed. Anyone can join at any time during the first round (your loss if you come late and don't have enough time to win enough points to move on).
There will be no more than 8 players in the 2nd round. The top players will move on to Round 2 and will battle for 1 hour. Points count double during Round 2. The player with the most total points from both rounds wins. In the case of a tie, there will be a play-off of several rounds to determine the winner.
The winner will receive a free reg code to give to a friend or whoever. See ya there! =) |

Suppose there are just two rounds. The second round would only be for players who had enough points to advance. If you do not make it to the second round, you can leave, right?
So there will be two tournaments going on in each server?

Dotz: No, we're in mountain time. 7:30pm mountain time is 9:30pm eastern time and 6:30pm pacific. Sorry if the time zone thing is useless--that's not my department. =) |

There is no third round. Round 1 will be for everyone who shows up between 7:30 and 8:30 moutain time, and there's a good chance we'll need 2 servers. Round 2 will be only the top players from each server (no more than 4 from each). Round 2 will be held on just one server, so the players from the 2nd server will move to the first. Still, we may not need 2 servers. People tend to sign up for the tourney and then not show, but maybe this year will be different. That would be awesome! Anyway, if you don't qualify for round 2 you will have to leave or set yourself to "away" if there's room for you to stay and watch. |

Tourney's are always given an extra half-hour or so just to make sure it doesn't run over the alotted time, because if it did run over and the tourney had officeally ended, the points from those rounds would not be included in the final tally. It's good to have extra breathing room. |
