Thanks. Also, IF POSSIBLE description of mastery, field, skill, score below stats for game mode for player could be in words - what they mean. Formulas do not explain anything for most users. I myself did not follow how and why they were created and I think most others did not - so word explanation would be much better.

Otherwise its really cool stuff - probably the best thing that happened to galcon in months.. Thanks Jazz!

Hey jazz, I love your new update, but do you think you could somehow make a combined win/loss against an opponent? Like I have 19 wins and 19 losses vs Matty while he was a GA, and 20 wins and 12 losses vs Matty while he was a 3 stripe.  Just a suggestion.

^good suggestion - ALL TIME win/loss showing ALL GAMES between two players for particular GAME MODE. It would be interesting to be able to track this for Ionized vs Matty by the way :)

I would like to see a little board which has all time stats for all user names for both platforms. It would move very slowly, obviously, but I'd love to see it. It'd be cool. Total games played, total won/lost, total win%, rank based on these stats, etc.

Look at all those negative numbers!  He performs way below the average player at the 1 stripe level.

Hmmm...  Wonder if I just found the magic modifier that can take away the Quantity difference in games...  if I get the average Over/Under number and subtract/add that to the Field rating....  I'll play around with that idea some.

Could you do the same thing with the Desktop platform Jazz?

To be consistent all over different galcon stats we would need win in left column and loss in right and change it also for win/loss in last two columns in main page of player stats.

Absolutely. Just need Phil to offer a game dump file for Desktop/Fusion like he does for iGalcon first.

Yup.  I feel like I have the Leader Board pretty much finalized now (minus a few minor tweaks and a FAQ page).  Time to start on other cool additions. Like a Player VS Player comparison page for example.  :)

Would like your opinions on something...

http://toomanywheres.com/galcon/LeaderBoard.aspx?type=2v2&ranknum=7&alias=goozok

Goozok has played over 50% of all 1 stripers out there.  Yet has a much lower win % against them then the general average player has.  The sheer number of opponents he's played against is giving him a very high Skill value - which boosts his win % up enough to place him high on the leader board.

What I'm thinking of doing is this.  If a players Win % against a rank is below that ranks Average Win %, I subtract the difference from the players Field number.  For example:  I'm guessing goozok's average difference would be -15 or so against 1 stripes (haven't confirmed this though), so I subtract 15 from his 52% Field number to get 37% Field.  This would bring his Skill number down to 14.43 instead of 20.28 and his overall Score for the rank would become 1,075,453 instead of 1,511,448.

In effect, this punishes people who are below average but play massive amounts of people to compensate.

Alternately, I could cut even deeper into the Skill value by subtracting the difference directly from that number.  So his Skill would drop from 20.28 to 5.28.

Thoughts?

lol!  well scratch that idea!

I just ran a query to see what the actual Average Win Percent was at the 1 stripe level and guess what...  its 37%.  2 less then goozoks win percent!  lol

Guess it really depends on who you choose to play against.

For example:

Avg Win Percent at the 1 stripe level: 37%
Goozoks Win Percent at 1 stripe level: 39%
Goozoks Avg Over/Under at 1 stripe lvl: -9

This tells me he is just barely above the worldwide average, but basically chooses to play against people better then him by about 9 percentage points.

Somehow it doesn't feel right to reduce him in the ranks because of who he chooses to play against....

Make negative numbers a fraction to divide by (with a constant) as to raise the person's points comparatively?

Since his average over/under is -9, 1/9 would be the fraction. So CurrentPointx9 all over x (x to be defined later) would give the new total.

I think that he plays SO many opponents that his score is insanely high. I think that this is the only problem left with the ranking system. (Everything else is EPIC :)  ) A higher number of games makes the player's skill more accurate, so their score should be slightly higher, but in this case it just proves how sucky he is. He's definitely at the blue flag-ish level to 1-stripe level, (and the stats prove it)  so he shouldn't be a GA here.. I'm sorry to say that I still think that number of opponents plays too big a role.

I guess you could try balancing it out with this over/under thing, but I feel that taking the problem out at the source is better than covering it up with a whole new factor.

Jazz I'm not knocking your work, goozok may just be an anomaly. I only noticed because he was directly below me in the rankings, and he sucks! So either I suck as well ( entirely possible with the way I've been playing lately) or there is a small flaw somewhere. I still love what you've done with this, and I think it's amazing.
