I just reached a personal goal of obtaining an overall win ratio of 90% (with a weight of about 500), and then it hit me... maybe we could have some sort of achievement/badge system?
I was thinking of a few things that I've done, and I figured they would be good examples for some sort of accomplishments, and I even just came up with suggested names for the corresponding "badges":

·Single Player
Strategist Rookie - Beat every single player mode on level 5 (captain)
Strategist Pro - Beat every single player mode on level 8 (2-stripe admiral)
Strategist General - Beat every single player mode on level 10 (grand admiral)

Battle Specialist - Beat Classic single player on level 10 (grand admiral difficulty) 3 times in a row
Battle Master - Beat Classic single player on level 10 (grand admiral difficulty) 5 times in a row
[Note: restarting mission or changing maps are considered as forfeiting, thus count as a loss and will break the streak]


·Multiplayer
Bronze medal - Overall win ratio of 60% or higher, with accumulated total weight of 100 or more.
Silver medal - Overall win ratio of 70% or higher, with accumulated total weight of 200 or more.
Gold medal - Overall win ratio of 80% or higher, with accumulated total weight of 350 or more.
Platinum medal - Overall win ratio of 90% or higher, with accumulated total weight of 500 or more.
[Keep in mind you only need to obtain them once, you can't lose them once you've already achieved them, even if you no longer satisfy the condition]

War Specialist - Win a Free For All match with 8 players or more.
War Master - Win a Free For All match with 12 players.


I'm sure they would be nice goals to focus on for fun, and they have a wide and progressive range of difficulty, to get people started and then to push themselves into beating certain goals/challenges. I could probably come up with a few more if it looks like something that could work out, these are just the ones I can think of from the top of my head right now.

Oh yeah and the achievements could earn you points to be used to upgrade your ships and planets, such as ships speed/attackpower and planets production rate/defense power.
But of course that is only if you ever plan on giving players the ability to become stronger than one another, which doesn't really seem like a bad idea, it would add an extra twist to the balance of the game anyhow.

I might add that this isn't an idea for the Flash Version, it could be implemented on any/all of the Galcon versions, but is just an idea nevertheless

I like these ideas, but they only work with a bigger community.

On the other hand, they might also allow the community to grow bigger. I'd still like to see a classic galcon mode around in the further, but setting up a separate game mode where people can level could be really cool.
