On another note, music can be the antidote (as a source of 'comfort') to life's pains... or, at the very least, act as a temporary numbing agent. It's not destructive or harmful (as opposed to using drugs or alcohol); it's fairly benign, so it's a good choice.

Perfect song I found for this purpose (and it's already gotten love from benxp + sidekick):

My bro (10+ years older) was heavily into his music and on the rave scene in the 80's/90's and by the end of the 90's so was i :)So here you have happy hardcore, trance, hell, i struggle to remember... can't think why hehe. Stuff like pet shop boys even and with a mother in to queen and dad into BeeGee's hell, It was interesting mix!

Did music tech at a prestigious Uni in the UK and put on a few 'parties' around the country.... :)

Travelled the world VJ'ing with friends who DJ (Germany, Holland, Poland, Czech etc) and even produced a few things but we were more live with ableton live and such. May i add R.I.P WinAmp here who first introduced me to milkdrop! WOW!

This was largely made up of techno and what took me around the world. From plastic man to Whitehouse, techno his a LARGE category. Names i can think off the top of my head, Dave clake, Luke Vibert, Neil Landstrumm, Antony Rother, Speedy J, Surgeon, Regis, LFO, Monolake, Scorn (Mick Harris from Napalm Death) man i could go on and on here.

Also Hip-Hop through this time and up to today infact from Public enemy to MF Doom, Jurrasic 5, Tribe called quest, Blockhead, you know, All the good stuff :)

Now im older i found myself catching up with things like Ian brown and all sorts of stuff over the years. Got into some classical even. Music is vibration and life is vibrations, It's just what suit's your vibrations the most. But we can change our vibrations. Is it ever wonder SOUND is such a powerful weapon in this day and age!

You just made me go look for this....

@bazauk

Don't you think songs like the one you recommended:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAueFwO0bTQ
... encourage rebelliousness, almost?

I mean, if we could say songs influence emotions and feelings and thoughts, then I'm suggesting this song does not promote a 'feeling of understanding' and positive thinking, rather dissension and anarchy. I just get a sense of loss of control, as if it encourages chaos.. something that would go well with being high on drugs, with a whirlwind of thoughts, at an underground rave of addicts.

It just really gives an uneasy feeling, no?

Honestly, esparano, I don't think your song gives at all as uneasy a feeling, as bazauk's song. The one he posted is just... idk.

HAHA! I love how in the music video Esparano posted the "tough guys" are riding wimpy little scooter-bikes. Shouldn't they be more like the Expendables? (Awesome movies, by the way--can't wait till Expendables III comes out this summer!)

I found this song by chance the other day and can't stop listening to it. Makes me grin and reminds me of Indie Boat last summer. =)

My favorite song at the moment. Chance the rapper is pretty good, it is cloud rap which I love so don't click it unless you like rap.
By the way cloud rap is rap with dream like beats, it is my favorite sub  genre.

That is not trap! Not even close, haha. It seems to be a genre called french alternative, whatever that means.

Here is another zany track from towkio:

And some awesome  under-the-radar Chance songs:

Alternatively, feel free to look at this page on soundcloud, which happens to consist of an odd mix of Childish Gambino and SAVEMONEY:

You really should check out those songs tho.

I love the variety of these artists's songs. The very first towkio song I linked and semi-detached arevery EDM-ish, while other songs gravitate towards pure sample-based rap (LSD and Holla At Yo Gualla) while still others are pure poetry (Brain Cells, live version).
Best part: none of these are generic rap music by any means.

This song has been one of my favorites for a long time and I am pretty sure I have posted Olu's version of it but never the original. I cant decide to this day which I like better. They both have different thing's I like about them.

Edit:

I think this guy has an amazing voice and the group is a amazing duo. The lyrics are horrible but I give them props because English isn't their first language.

Now when you say rap......

I'm assuming you're NOT talking about the Hip-Hop we hear on the radio? Rap is mostly dead. Hip-Hop is BOOMING.
