You know what also gets my gible? Fans of DBZ not Dragon Ball or GT. As far as I'm concerned some of the best moments in the whole series occured before the Tien Shinhan saga.

I was big into Dragon Ball and DBZ when I was thirteen. I didn't care for GT simply because I was done with DBZ by then.
DBKai is awesome. If you were to start into it, I would start with Kai. |

And it sucked hard honestly, all the blood was changed brown, and the voice overs were not just bad, but changed the actual words that were used. In my opinion, go for the uncut series its the best. And brrt dont think I was ignoring DB or GT I just dont see any decent amv's for those two. Btw GT wasnt even made by Akira he actually sold out and a new writer created GT bases off of both DB and DBZ he was apparently in love with DB hence kid goku through the entire GT series but wanted to keep it action packed like DBZ witch anyone who watched GT knows that was a fail. GT is a terrible ending to the DB series but it wasnt our call anyway. Lastly there is no ss2 in GT and vegeta apparently skips ss3 entirely and whats with them reacing ss4 (not even a true ss transformation according to Akira) at the beggining of the series and then not ever achieving a lvl higher? That would make every villain in GT near equal in power lvl. Lol sorry I couldnt help but add this but you all know why DB is soo outrageously perverted right? Its because the creater Akira Toriyama created anime porn and is a real wierdo. The DB series was the only thing he ever made even mildly decent. Thanks for posting here guys Im glad to see this was actually read. ^_^
P.S I would like to see if anyone can find an amv bettter than the one I posted. Beat this amv LOL |

I watched Kai in Japanese with subtitles. It definitely goes through Cell, not just Frieza. There are currently no plans for Majin Buu, but there has been talk of it.
As for blood, the American broadcast versions always have less, but I never thought blood was important. Here is the same shot in Kai for both Jap(left) and Nicktoons(right). The blood I saw was red. I also liked how they darkened lots of blacks in the colors, and fixed things like Vegeta's red hair.
Voice-overs are ALWAYS bad. The actual words used are all in Japanese. I saw a couple episodes of Kai in English, and I liked how they changed some things like "Destructo Disk" back to the Japanese name "Kienzan".
They changed lots of things in Kai: made it shorter, more consistent, and sharper looking in widescreen. Now if you want to be faithful to the original Japanese version, I understand that too. Fans can be particular. :)

Posts: 311 | lol I really honestly hate the new voices they are terrible to me just my opinion. And I had no idea there was a Japanese version of kai I just assumed it was nicktoons way of taking the bad stuff out. Oh and nicktoons kai has yet to go past frieza so maybe thats a part of the confusion. My personal preference is the Funimation version because they took the lame original music out that never fit. I hated listening to gongs and bells when goku transformed I rather would listen to the epic instrumentals. Dont you think taking out all the filler is kinda lame? I mean it did add to the story after all. Taking out the filler is like ripping pages out of a book and then reading it. XD |

Posts: 311 | Oh I thought I would add this because alot of people didnt know on my xbox dbz game. We had a debate where people had told me kaio ken was impossible as a super sayin but later I discovered goku uses super kaio ken as a super saying against Pikon. Another cool fact is Gohan goes ss2 for the first time before fighting cell. He goes ss2 in the hyperbolic chamber while training with Goku and is Goku's reasoning for pitting Gohan up against cell in the first place. And lastly I just learned this the other day.. as you may know there is a transfomation between ss1 and ss2 that has the power of ss2 but is to bulky a form to fight in know as the ascended sayin..well..after re-watching the cell saga I seen that there is infact a level above ascended and yet still below ss2 and only Goku pushes that far.. the scene is when he is meditating while Gohan is training then he asks Gohan to watch him as he goes ascended then says he can take it one step further and reaches ascended 2.
Here is my list/opinion on the order of transformations as based off the show:
Normal, False SS1, SS1, Ascended, Ascended 2, SS2, SS3, False SS4.
Between me and some of my nerd DBZ friends we have debated whether or not Ascended sayin should be known as ascended or if it would be better known as what it trully is the False SS2.
My stating False SS4 is because the known SS4 as seen in DBGT is infact a new kind of transformation that does not follow the same pattern as the others. If you notice it is hardly a transformation at all and quite frankly makes no sense as to how it worked out. Akira was not the creater of GT so one could even say GT is a False sequel to DBZ. And lastly if you were to see True SS4 in the show as made by Akira I have no doubt in my mind it would share the consistancy of blonde hair and green eyes as every other form has had.post updated on Sep 20, 2012 @ 10:41pm |

Location: in darkness | The best way to tell a good fan, is how strongly they defend their show. :) We may disagree on Kai, but you are right on the money about most else.
For example, I watched Dragon Ball in english, and I am most attached to that version even though it was edited from the Japanese.
I like the filler usually too. I have seen it all before though, so when they skip stuff I still know what happened. The filler can put off people with short attention spans, so I that is why I think Kai is a good starting point for someone new. I won't ever say it is the BEST edition... |

I have been trying to learn sony vegas so I can edit the show for my liking. I want to basically take the filler and without removing it somehow more so move it. For example I want to make it so when the battles actually happen that they just happen with little to no interuptions and perhaps put all the filler together instead of periodicly throughout the fights. There is alot of filler in the freiza saga I noticed where if they were all combined you wouldnt be able to tell because they literally say the same thing like: Omg what amazing power or I have never felt such tremendous power lvls before or This is insane look how strong they are the planets shaking. You could very well combine all that into one scene XD maybe.... Anyway so far I suck at sony vegas so this could take forever.
On a new subject for the xbox I have a DBZ game that by far stands above the others even its sequel is put to shame. Its called DragonBall Raging Blast and of all the DBZ games this one by MILES involves the most player skill. Youtube some of the awesome battles hopefully you dont get the spammers in youtube but if you can see when to legit players go head to head in that game it can be more entertaining than the show. It includes a ranking system online as well. If you have an xbox I strongly recomend it. Thx for having this conversation with me.

I had a lot of fun with the oldschool DBZ fighter games like Hyper Dimension on SNES. Those battles got intense!
I do some video editing myself. I like to show movies to my family but yank out some of the R-rated stuff. I tried doing AMV's but I have not the skill for it.

Why dont you rather list reasons it sucks instead of just claiming it sucks without evidence you even seen it. And btw anyone who thinks dbz sucks did not watch it through because there is no way dbz sucks ESPECIALLY knowing when that anime was made. No other show in that time came even close to that level of animation or emotion in a cartoon. If dbz sucked then why is it still on tv today even being remade or remastered constantly? Why would its fan base be so large? Lol infact usually the dbz haters all share the same reason for hate.. because they are mad that the animes they like do not get the same treatment as good animes. XD |

In my eyes, DBZ is a terribly animated show with force droned actors. Simple and to the point.
Its just a taste in animation style that bugs me. I prefer the sophisticated modern animation compared to the scrappy animation. As you can see, I'm not a traditionalist, so no need to make assumptions otherwise. |
