I just shared my third map, "The red that bind us". The red tech has a very important role on this map.
I hope you enjoy. ;) | | Re: "The red that bind us" - My new map :: Aug 17, 2012 @ 6:53am |

This time you got it, well done! Your map is nice, and I really enjoyed discovering it and playing it. =)
However, I don't understand, why do you say red tech is so important? | | Re: "The red that bind us" - My new map :: Aug 17, 2012 @ 7:42am |

I'm glad you liked my map! :) Thanks for your words!
So, regarding red tech, maybe I was a bit scary with those words...hehehe
I said that because if the player does not eliminate it, it will not to progress (the red tech blocks the path, above), and, also, a red gate blocks the access to a keycard.
So, do you think this time the size of the map is good? :)post updated on Aug 17, 2012 @ 7:44am | | Re: "The red that bind us" - My new map :: Aug 17, 2012 @ 8:44am |

With this said, I think the important is not the size of the map itself, but its "density".
In my opinion, the question is: "In my level, will the player have to walk in big empty areas or long empty corridors without challenges?" If the answer is "yes", the map can be improved by removing these "useless" areas (of course, it probably means redrawing it completely).
Some of my favorite maps are very large ones, but they're full of challenges, without useless walk. And I prefer a short and interesting map than a big one without thinking in it.post updated on Aug 17, 2012 @ 8:45am | | Re: "The red that bind us" - My new map :: Aug 17, 2012 @ 11:53am |
