philhassey Joined: Nov 30, 2006 Posts: 800 Location: Zarcon	Hey, Well, I think it's about time that we had some Galcon t-shirts, 'eh? Here's the deal: - You design a Galcon t-shirt! - E-mail me your design, and optionally post it to the forums to show off! (If you don't post it, I might!) - I select the ones I want to sell! - If you made one of the ones I sell, I'll send you one of 'em for free! You'll also receive a Galcon license 12-pack! - All honorable mentions will receive a Galcon license! Design parameters: - Max 10"x10" - may have front, back, or both. - 200 DPI - PNG output - with transparency where you want the black t-shirt to show-through. Tips: - Press F4 during the game to take a screenshot! - Make sure your designs and slogans are "family friendly" - Feel free to discuss potential slogans in the forums. - Feel free to share design prototypes in the forums to get feedback from other users (you should scale your image down and post a ~500x500 .JPG for the forums.) - Feel free to use the Galcon logo and artwork from: http://www.imitationpickles.org/galcon/press.html - Here's a huge version of the Galcon logo: http://www.imitationpickles.org/galcon/content/bwlogo.png - Here's the in-game font is "Zeroes Three" trademark of Ray Larabie: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/larabie/zeroes/ - Have fun! Rules: - Competition starts: August 1st. - Competition ends: August 31st. - You may submit as many designs as you like. - You may win more than one prize! (If I choose all 10 of your designs, you'll get 10 t-shirts and 120 Galcon licenses!) Can you even IMAGINE anything better??! Legal blah blah: - When you send me your design you will be giving me copyright of that design and any slogans in the design. - For the purpose of making these designs, you may use Galcon screenshots, the Galcon logo and other Galcon artwork. - http://www.larabiefonts.com/help.html grants us permission to use the font for artwork. A few tips: - 200 DPI * 10 inches wide = 2000 px wide for a full size image - Don't use censored words :) - You may use the in-game font for the text, if you like (see the link in the announcement.) One question, what if you dont get 10 enteries for the t shirt? A clarification of the rules: I didn't specify how many "winners" I will choose. It kind of depends on how many good entries are created. Hypothetically, if you made 10 that were so great that I just had to use all of them, well, you'd win 10 prizes :) But realistically, I'll choose somewhere between 1-5 winners. I like that one alot--kind of has a cool tie-dye effect. I'm a huge sucker for tie-dye (you should see my hat!). I love your designs--keep up the good work! P.S. Is anyone ever gonna challenge this guy!? There won't be much of a contest if hardly anyone else enters a design. I can see that his strategy here is to win by sheer numbers. He's taking the ol' shotgun approach and hopes to win by burying the competition under a hailstorm of designs. I love it! =) reply

We are thrilled that you are submitting so many designs--it's great! I wish everyone had this kind of enthusiasm! Fact is, your email was long and sparsely punctuated which made it difficult to understand. Phil's usual response to your emails: "Nan, I need you to read this for me because I have no idea what this guy is babbling about" =) Phil is a very busy guy for whom Galcon is only a sideline. His real job and his other hobbies take up an awful lot of his time, so any email longer than 2 sentences is hard for him to even make time to read, let alone comprehend. For this same reason his responses to people are always short and to-the-point (often half a sentence as you've no doubt observed). So don't take it personally. Just know that you're only one person out of many who like to email Phil your questions, concerns, comments, etc. =) And keep the designs rolling!! reply

growler Joined: Jul 14, 2007 Posts: 13 Location: paxland - and robcantwin still! lol	ive taken my designs down - as they are TOO SMALL ! i have a friend who makes t shirts and passed on two of my best designs for him to make up. they look ok - the colour looked fine - but they needed to be a better res, maybe 300 instead of 200. so any you may of liked ill re do at a higher res - but as someone who likes things done perfectly - im not happy with what i uploaded. better the design be a little bigger { say 20 in instead of what you asked for} and a higher res - so when it is printed the printers can reduce the size accordly rather than have to blow it up { my friend said he blew the design 140 percent...which didnt help > reply

However much I detested grammar in school (the most useless, pointless, tedious, and miserable subject in my opinion), no one can say I didn't learn it. =) reply
